NICHOLAS GAUDET & DENNIS ROOTES!

AREA 51 UPDATE - 10/29/00:

SPOOKY SHOW 2000 RECAP: We believe this was the biggest party of the year so far. Over 40 people walked through the Area 51 doorway and into what has been said to have been the best Tom & Patty Show Halloween event by far. It took the Boo Crew a month of planning and a week of execution to create the atmosphere. Good thing there was no rain or there would have been many soggy ghouls and goblins. Here is what you missed if you decided to stay home:

1. The Alien Club - This room was created based on the fact that our theme was "Aliens" last year. We had to do something to utilize all of those decorations, so it will probably be a staple feature in Halloween parties to come. Luckily, everything in that room reacted to black light, so it made for a nice welcome as you enter the house.

2. The Hall of Cobwebs - Red lights and black spiderwebs created quite the spooky atmosphere.

3. The Psycho Scene Bathroom - This was not a room you wanted to spend too much time in. Especially if you were inebriated. The strobe light was enough to throw anyone into an epileptic seisure. However, the figure behind the white shower curtain really looked like he was about to jump out at you.

4. The Haunted House - Pique's favorite, mainly because of all the candles. Several new decorations were added to the collection this year for the great room, including an awesome candlabra that was the centerpeice of our grand dining table. Black light was added under and inside the pool table to make it glow and this is where the band "5150" played. They rocked the house with "Enter Sandman" and other familiar songs from Metallica, Blink 182 and ACDC to name a few. They were so hot, we had a slam pit in our kitchen.

5. The Fortune Teller Tent - Complete with a crystal ball. The canopy that was used to create a UFO last year was transformed into a dark, comfy room for a few people to talk about what might happen in the future. We'll be doing this one again next year... with added amenities, like maybe a fortune teller.

6. Pirate Ship Wreck - So detailed, it reminded me of Disneyland. It was actually just a leftover guest from a previous party.

7. The Cemetary - Same as last year, only this time we added ground fog and a couple more headstones. Much improved.

8. Hot Tub Hell - Body parts galore, this was one hot tub that you would want to think twice about slipping into. The dry ice gave it that "human stew" look. Yummy!

9. Pumpkin Alley - Mark Jackson (Yogie) did a rockin' job on these two jack-o-lanterns! The Mummy was good, but Dracula was the bomb! Gotta save those patterns. Oops! I mean, wow, is Mark really talented at carving.

10. The Laboratory - Nothing more than visqueen walls, a lava lamp, a couple of jars of eyeballs and shrunken heads, bloody equipment... oh yeah, and the guts from the local butcher. There was a cow hoof, liver, entrails, and brains. We don't even want to tell you what happened to those brains later on. All I can say is that Yogie is now the proud owner of the grand prize - a digital camera.

* Best Costume Overall: Michael Luth
* Best Scary Costume: Tom Stanton
* Best Butt: Mae West
* Grand Prize: Mark Jackson

Of course, Luigi was the chef and created the most awesome meatballs and stuffed mushrooms. We're just going to have to get him to start cooking a few hours earlier. And aways remember: If you can't find your keys, check your back pocket!

Special thanks to 5150, Luigi, The Boo Crew and to all the guests who really made the party special. We had a great time!

Happy Halloween!
